No,we do not worship Mary.We venerate her,love her, pray to  her, honor her.Our worship of God is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

If you are a non Catholic what you see as worship and what we see as worship is probably 2 different things.Some non Catholic

denominations have a liturgy(ie Lutheran)but many do not. This causes misunderstanding. Our Liturgy is 2 parts but one whole.

The first is the liturgy of the Word and the second is the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Sacred Scripture seems to be meant be liturgical and we hear

readings at every Mass.The word of God is proclaimed.

Jesus gave Mary to us and we are thankful.We call her Blessed

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.—John 19:26,27

God put enmity between Mary and Satan.Either this is total enmity or none at all. Mary was saved from sin in her conception.We were redeemed before we committed sin. God is outside time and space. There is no reason to think God could not have saved Mary in her conception.The spouse of Mary is the Holy Spirit.

Mary is human.The Church has never taught otherwise.

Whatever we think of Mary is because God deemed it to be.

34. And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

35. (Yea, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.- Luke 2

If you have a problem with what the Church teaches ask Jesus to tell you if He is offended by your honoring His Mother.

 Mary is the New Ark of the Covenant. Yes,the Church teaches this. All of scripture-both Old and New Testaments-are about Jesus.

The New Testament is prefigured in the Old and the Old Testament revealed in the New. The Word of God IS Jesus.

We see Mary in John's Vision in Revelation;

"Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm. A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." (Revelation 11:19-12:1)

I would take some time and go back to read OT accounts of the Ark of the Covenant.

I know that non Catholics point out the scripture which tells us all men have sinned. What scritpure also tells us is that God created His creatures sinless.Our first parents were sinless and remained innocent until the fall.

The angels were created sinless. if we could be redeemed from our sins before we committed them-before we were born-there is no reason not to think God could create Mary free from sin in her conception.Saved before Christ entered our time and history.All time is present to God.

There is no reason to think He would not. Mary was to conceieve by the Holy Spirit and bear the Messiah.

She was truly His mother and He was truly conceived from the moment she said,Be it done unto me.

Catholics make a great leap of faith believing all these things are possible with God,the Immaculate Conception of Mary,the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist,the keys being given to Peter and hell not being triumphant over His Church.

We accept ALL that Jesus said and did.

I know that non Catholics say that statues are idols. No they are not unless they are worshipped as gods. They are venerated,but then Sacred Scripture is venerated.The priest kisses the book of the gospels after the proclomation.The book of the Gospels is elevated before the Congregation and the Crucifix is carried before the priest and servers in the procession prior to Mass.

Alll these are VENERATED(NOT worshipped). They are set aside as being sacred because of God.However it may appear to a non Cahtolic we know better.

Scripture does not forbid images and statues-not even all secular images and statues let alone the sacred.

God did not forbid the religious usage of statues; He forbade the worship of statues. There is a difference between the two. In one Bible passage, we read of an instance when God commanded the making of statues, You shall make two cherubim of gold, make them of hammered work at the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end; you shall make the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat at its two ends. The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings and facing one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the mercy seat. [Exodus 25:18-20]

In 1 Chronicles 28:11-18, we read of the instance when David gave Solomon the plans to the Temple. Then in verse 19, we read, All this, in writing at the Lords direction, he made clear to me - the plans of all the works. The building of the Temple and the Altar of incense was done because God had commanded it to be done.

In Numbers 21:8-9, we read, And the Lord said to Moses,Make a poisonous serpent, and set it on a pole; and everyone who is bitten shall look at it and live. So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon a pole; and whenever a serpent bit someone, that person would look at the serpent of bronze and live.

This serpent on a pole was symbolic, represent Jesus Christ on the Holy Cross. Equally, when Catholics look at a crucifix or a picture of Jesus on the Cross, they are reminded that the Lord Jesus is their Saviour. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one lives unless he goes through Jesus Christ. As the serpent on the pole was part of a Jewish religious ritual, the crucifix is part of the Catholic liturgy.

As the Holy Bible teaches, God the Father has no form. He is Spirit. When God spoke to Moses at Horeb, it was in the midst of the burning bush. When the time was right, God revealed Himself to the world in physical form. He is the image of the invisible God... [Col. 1:15] For in him (Jesus) all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.[Col. 1:19] For in him (Jesus) the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily. [Col. 2:9]

The Holy Spirit also revealed Himself in visible form, as a Dove at the Baptism of our Lord Jesus [Mt 3:16, Mk. 1:10, Lk 3:22, Jn 1:32] and as tongues of fire on Pentecost Day [Acts 2:1-4].

I am sure that many non Catholics have nativity scenes even at their churches during Christmas.Those are statues and we know that those are not idols.

Some non Catholics have statues of angels.We know that those statues are not idols either. And even non Catholic Bibles have images.Jesus. These are not forbidden by scripture.They are definitely not graven.
